Over the course of my lifelong spiritual journey the one thing I’ve learned is that God delights in my faithfulness. When we seek the will of God we need to see what’s in front of us. We need to identify the work the Lord has placed in our path.
What is the next thing we need to do?
Rather than holding out for some big revelation, do what God puts in front of you. Simply do the next right thing.

In the Beatitudes, Jesus tells us what doing right looks like:
The Beatitudes
3 “God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
4 God blesses those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5 God blesses those who are humble,
for they will inherit the whole earth.
6 God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice,
for they will be satisfied.
7 God blesses those who are merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 God blesses those whose hearts are pure,
for they will see God.
9 God blesses those who work for peace,
for they will be called the children of God.
10 God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
11 “God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. 12 Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.

What does doing right look like?
• Realize their need for him (verse 3)
• Their hearts break for what breaks God’s heart (verse 4)
• Model humility (verse 5)
• Hunger and Thirst for Justice (verse 6)
• Show mercy (verse 7)
• Have pure hearts (verse 8)
• Work for peace (verse 9)
Prayer:
Father, my prayer today is that through the Holy Spirit, You would continue to show us how to do right and how to live a life pleasing to You. Help us continue to grow in our Christlikeness as we move forward into this new week. Guide our hearts, direct our paths, O Lord. We give You all the praise, honor, and glory. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Thankfully,

Whether one’s a fervent God believer or not, wouldn’t we expect them to do these behaviors because of one’s good conscience?

That’s a great question. Certainly. It would be great to treat others the way you’d like to be treated. But, that’s often not the case.
