The Importance of Recognizing the Season You Are In

Every so often, I think it is good to recreate yourself. Thinking of it like remodeling from the inside out. What are the things you want to keep? What do you want to change and make different? You aren’t who you once were. This is true with every tick of the clock. The hands of time only move forward.

Different seasons look different from previous ones. Though, they may share similarities.

Many sunrises and sunsets ago, I woke up to the awkward realization that my life, as it was in that moment, had become unmanageable. I needed to rebuild. However, before I could rebuild, I needed to recover. I’d lost my compass. My sense of direction disappeared, hidden under the rubble of disaster I called My Life. My self-esteem and self-worth hid in the closet, waiting for the storms to pass.

Is that where you are today?

You can rebuild. Indeed, you must. But, first, you have to recover. It’s not something that you should do on your own. You need community. Gather two or three folks around you to sit with you; to walk alongside you. Find people who will cheer you on.

Avoid poison. It’s not good for you. Not everyone is for you, especially those demons from your past. So, learn to leave them behind. Toxicity has no place in your future.

Yes, there are things from your previous edition that will go forward into the future with you. They belong. You want them there. But, not everything belongs nor should you burden yourself with trying to take everything with you. It’s time to travel lean and light.

There are beautiful things ahead of you in the future. Recognize the season you’re in. You are a little bit older and a little bit wiser. You have the opportunity to see things in a new way and with a different perspective.

Move forward.

May the Lord, our God shine His light on you and may God continue to bless the United States of America.
