As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I’ve thought a lot about the ugliness of our temporal world in light of the goodness of God.
My understanding of what the goodness of God is has been challenged over recent weeks as I process the scenes of our inclement weather service in mid-January. It was a place where I found myself praying for predator and prey alike. It was a place where the depravity of man and the evil of this world collided against the holiness and goodness of God.
Challenged to process what I saw, I turned to a familiar Scripture.
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
John 1:5
This verse reminds us of the profound truth that Jesus, the light of the world, shines in the midst of the deepest darkness.
Jesus offers us hope, guidance, and salvation to all who embrace Him as Lord and Savior. The darkness of depravity, despair, and hopelessness cannot extinguish the bright light of Christ. No matter how overwhelming the darkness may seem, we can remain confident that human depravity cannot overcome the eternal and unyielding light of God’s love and grace.
How can we actively reflect the light of Christ in our daily lives, especially in the midst of difficult and dark circumstances?
We can actively reflect the light of Christ in our daily lives by living in a way that aligns with Jesus’ teachings and example. This includes showing love and compassion to others, forgiving those who wrong us, and seeking justice and righteousness. Additionally, sharing the message of hope and salvation found in Jesus Christ with those around us can also reflect His light. By living a life of integrity, humility, and service, we can shine the light of Christ in a world that is filled with darkness and despair.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for sending your Son, Jesus Christ, as the light of the world. Help us to walk in His light and to share His light with those who are still in darkness. Give us the courage and wisdom to bring hope and love to those who are struggling. Amen.
Blessings,

As I read your thoughts, especially about praying for predator and prey alike, I thought of something King David wrote:
“I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” Psalm 27:13-14 Brother, I pray God will allow you and your team to ease back into frontline ministry this week. Maybe even a few “thank yous” from the street….
