Good Friday makes Easter possible.
Without the sacrifice of Jesus on that Friday over 2,000 years ago, there would be no Resurrection Sunday. No victory over death. No empty tomb to rejoice in. Just like Christmas commemorates the birth of Christ, Easter celebrates His rising—but that rising could not have happened without His willing death on the Cross.
Good Friday matters because it’s the day God fulfilled His plan of salvation. Through the shed blood of Jesus, the sinless Son of God, the weight of humanity’s sin was lifted. The promises and prophecies of Scripture came to pass on a rugged Cross at Calvary. Jesus, fully God and fully man, bore the punishment meant for us so we could be reconciled to the Father.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16 NIV
Good Friday matters because, in the face of betrayal and brutality, grace and mercy flowed freely. On that day, what was broken began to be made whole. What was unclean was made clean. Through Christ’s death, we were offered a new identity—clothed not in our failings, but in His righteousness.
On Good Friday, light pierced the darkness. Ashes were exchanged for beauty. The blood that was spilled became the victory we claim. Death was defeated, and eternal life was made available to all who would believe.
Good Friday matters—because from that day, all blessings still flow.

Thanks for reading, my friend. Until my next post…

These lines resonated with me: “Good Friday matters because, in the face of betrayal and brutality, grace and mercy flowed freely. On that day, what was broken began to be made whole.” Even now, even though it might be hard to see, grace and mercy are flowing to make our broken world whole. Thank you for you thoughtful words, I’ll hold them close today.
