Every so often, God stirs the waters. A new opportunity arises. A door opens. And we’re left wondering—Is this from You, Lord?
In nonprofit ministry, where heart meets hustle, considering a new role isn’t just a career move—it’s a spiritual decision. It’s less about chasing titles and more about following the call.
So before saying yes (or no), ask yourself:
- Is this invitation drawing me closer to who God is shaping me to be?
- Does it deepen my ability to serve others with compassion and excellence?
- Will this place allow me to lead with both faith and integrity?
Sometimes God moves us not because we’re done where we are—but because He’s preparing us for more.
Listen. Pray. Discern.
The right opportunity won’t just fit your resume—it will fit your calling.
Colossians 3:23-24 NIV
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

Until my next post…
Be salty, stay lit.

That’s a great suggestion, Rene. Thanks for sharing. I will certainly give it some thought. It’s a powerful prayer. I’m glad you’re enjoying what you’re unpacking on my blog. Blessings.

Excellent word!! I checked out your list of prayers…and I’m wondering how you feel about the Prayer of Jabez, if you might want to add it? I’ll keep you and your family in my prayers–a sister, Rene.

Let Your will be done, not mine is a hard prayer to pray at times. It takes trusting that His ways are better than our ways, which strangely enough is harder to do than it sounds. Thanks for reading, Jodi, and sharing your insights. God is always at work around us. Sometimes it’s hard for us to wait and see where that is.

This speaks straight to the tension I’ve felt in recent seasons—where the next step isn’t always obvious, but the stirring is undeniable. I love how you framed it: not as a career move, but a spiritual one. That shift in language feels like a permission slip to pause, pray, and ask not just “Can I do this?” but “Is this where God is shaping me next?”
Thank you for this reminder to let calling—not ego—lead. 🙏
And that Colossians verse? A grounding anchor, every time. 💛
