Wednesday Wisdom | Writing Through Resistance: Staying Faithful, Steady, and Impactful

Every writer, every blogger, every minister of the Word eventually meets resistance. Honestly, you probably are doing something wrong if you aren’t. Sometimes resistance is physical. We have limits. Exhaustion, busy schedules, unexpected setbacks, and a whole bevy of things push us to the brink of extinction. Other times, the resistance is purely spiritual as we wrestle with discouragement, doubt, distraction, or the quiet whisper that our words don’t matter. Satan is a great liar and he likes to make us believe his lies. He tells them to us over and over again in the hopes that we will become convinced that our identity is in our failures and shortcomings, rather than in Christ. The devil would have us believe we are made in less than the image of God. Thankfully, we know the truth.

Impact always meets resistance. In fact, resistance is the confirmation that we are advancing the Gospel. We are in Kingdom territory.

Here are a few pieces of wisdom to help you keep writing, creating, and influencing when the pressure is real and the pushback is strong:

1. Remember Your Assignment

Not every post is just a post; sometimes it’s obedience. When resistance rises, return to why you write. If God has given you a voice, then the words you release carry purpose. Your job is faithfulness.
God handles the fruit.

2. Build a Rhythm, Not a Burden

Consistency doesn’t mean pressure.
It means returning, again and again,to the practice that keeps you connected. Some days you’ll write a paragraph. Some days a full devotional flows out of you. The point is the rhythm, not the quantity.

3. Guard Your Mind, Your Heart, and Your Time

Spiritual resistance often begins with subtle invasion like noise, distraction, discouragement. Protect the spaces where your creativity and calling meet.
Even 15 minutes of quiet in the morning can reset the soul and reopen the well.

4. Don’t Write Alone

Community matters. Our ADVENT2025 collaboration and the connections it opened is a perfect example of how shared purpose fuels creativity. Other writers strengthen us, sharpen us, and remind us we’re part of something bigger than ourselves.

5. Expect Resistance—but Don’t Bow to It

You’re not doing anything wrong when it gets hard. More often, you’re doing something right. The enemy doesn’t waste energy on what isn’t effective. If your writing draws people to Jesus, encourages hurting hearts, builds community, or shines light into dark places,expect a battle.
But remember: Victory isn’t found in avoiding resistance; it’s found in enduring through it.

6. Let Your Wounds Become Wells

The hard seasons, the grief, the frustration, the questions aren’t obstacles to your writing. They’re the very places God draws fresh water from. Your vulnerability becomes someone else’s survival guide.

7. Keep Showing Up

Words don’t have to be perfect to be powerful. Posts don’t have to go viral to be valuable. Faithfulness over time becomes impact. Keep writing. Keep pressing forward. Your voice matters more than you know.

Final Word

Every week you show up to write, you wage a small act of spiritual resistance.
Every post is a seed—the Spirit knows where to plant it.
Your task is simply to continue, to trust, and to keep pointing hearts toward Jesus.

Stay rooted.
Stay steady.
Stay faithful.
