The Essentials (Week 4) | Grace Is Hard to Receive

Our generation understands how to earn things. Our parents taught us the value of working hard and doing right is the best means for getting the desired outcome.

It makes sense to us.

Grace is more difficult to grasp.

Grace means not getting what we deserve.

It isn’t earned.
We don’t deserve it.
Yet, it’s still freely given.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭8‬, ‭10‬ ‭ESV‬‬

There’s something in me that resists that. Not because I don’t want it, but because sometimes I don’t know what to do with a gift that costs me nothing. It cost Jesus everything.

For it is by grace you have been saved…”

Like you, I’ve read that so many times. And I’m still learning how to live like it’s true.

Grace isn’t something we master but something we slowly learn to receive.

Be salty, stay lit.
