I’ve been teaching and preaching the Bible since being saved and baptized in October 2007. Granted, my teaching and preaching ministry may seem sporadic to outside eyes. However, through my writing, I’ve been able to teach and share God’s Word with others all over the world, faithfully, through this blog since 2013. During that time, I also served on various worship teams and participated at a variety of worship events, mainly as a keyboardist and sound person.
For a couple of years in a row, I served as the devotional teacher during a summer music camp at our church, when I overheard a kid tell his mom, “Look, there goes the devotional guy,” giving birth to the name of this blog.
Together, Terri and I endured and persevered through a variety of ministry attacks and battles. We both bear the scars to prove it. As a husband and man of God, there’s nothing that prepares you for hearing your senior pastor call your wife Judas.
There’s no Bible class that teaches you about what you will see behind the curtain of ministry or gives you any inkling of how to cope with a post traumatic stress disorder courtesy of being on the frontlines of ministry.
Someone recently asked my mom if I had quit preaching and was now solely focused on creating art.
Art is God’s way of healing me.
I’m still teaching the Bible and even preaching God’s Word when the occasion presents itself. No one ever confused me with being someone who is one dimensional. I can walk and chew gum at the same time.
Today, this is where we are. I say we because ministry is something that involves both of us; me AND Terri.
For years, both of us served together in Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child ministry and our 4th Friday Chapel service at Union Gospel Mission Dallas.
Terri has been with me, through thick and thin, in serving the Lord. I couldn’t do it without her.
While ministry certainly looks different these days, here is where we are.
