The Essentials (Week 8) |Faith

Friends, I pray you’ve enjoyed the last 8 weeks, as we’ve explored some of the essentials of Christian beliefs. Due to the Memorial holiday, I am a day late in posting this final installment of my series, The Essentials.

In the end, it all comes down to faith.

Not certainty.

Not having every question answered.

But trust.

And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Perhaps, you’ve sat with that more than once. Faith isn’t always steady. Some days it feels strong. On other days, it may feel uncertain, because things are happening in our life that we don’t understand or that we can’t control.

Perhaps, faith was never meant to feel like control. Maybe it’s meant to feel like dependence.

Trusting a God we cannot see and hoping in a future we haven’t experienced.

Faith means believing that what the Lord said is true even when life feels unclear and unstable. It’s believing on the days where everything seems impossible. I don’t mean the wonder kind of impossible. I mean the frustration type of impossible.

Faith is less about striving and more about returning to what is true.

It’s not perfect faith as much as it is willing faith. A willingness to trust in the goodness of God in our most difficult moments.

Until my next post…

Be salty, stay lit.

  1. Amen 🙏, I agree. We all experience times when our faith is tested. It’s part of how we grow, I believe. An untested faith seems suspect to me. It’s like saying you never made a bad decision. To me, that simply means you haven’t made very many decisions. Thanks for reading my post and sharing your thoughts. 🙏

  2. Having consistent faith can be very hard, even for a spiritually matured believer. I pray for the grace to keep trusting in him 🙏🏾
