Becoming More Like Jesus

Friend, as long as we have breath, our calling is to make disciples and help people grow to be more Christlike. In order to do this, we need to do it ourselves. We must be disciples who are becoming more like Jesus every day.

Following Jesus is not simply about where we go. It is about who we become. God’s goal is not just to change our behavior. He desires to transform our hearts.

In Romans, Paul reminds us that we must be transformed by the renewal of our mind.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Transformation happens slowly. Each day we grow in patience, humility, grace, and love.

The Christian life is not about becoming impressive. It is about being faithful. Every day, God is shaping us into the image of Christ.

The question is not only:

“What am I doing for God?”

But:

“Who am I becoming with God?”

The journey of the Christian faith is a lifelong invitation to become more like Jesus, one day at a time.
