A Monday Morning Prayer

Some Mondays begin with a full calendar. Others begin with a full heart. Oftentimes, they begin with both.

Before we rush into meetings, answer emails, make decisions, or carry the burdens of the day, I invite you to begin where all good Mondays begin: in the presence of God.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the gift of another week. Before we accomplish anything, remind us that we are first Your children. Before we speak, teach us to listen. Before we lead, teach us to follow You.

Lord, make us people of unity. In a world quick to divide, help us become people who reconcile. May we see others not as opponents to defeat but as neighbors to love and brothers and sisters to encourage.

Give us humility. Rescue us from the need to be right, recognized, or applauded. Help us to walk with the quiet confidence that comes from knowing Christ rather than proving ourselves.

Clothe us with gentleness. May our words soften hearts instead of hardening them. May those who encounter us today experience something of the kindness of Jesus.

Grant us patience. Slow our anxious hearts. Teach us to trust Your timing when life feels delayed and to extend grace when people don’t meet our expectations fast enough. Remind us that You have been endlessly patient with us.

And above all, fill us with love. Let Your love become the atmosphere we carry into every room, every conversation, every decision, and every interruption. May we love because You first loved us.

Today, help us live the words Paul shared in Ephesians 4:2–3:

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

May this not simply be another Monday. May it be another opportunity to reflect Jesus. It’s in His holy name we pray.

Amen.

Be salty, stay lit.

  4. Amen, brother. This is a great prayer start the week. I didn’t get to read it until supper time, but it reflects how I felt about today.
