Bible Study Sunday | What Will We Do With Jesus?

This week we continue our journey through Matthew with Matthew 21.

It’s a busy chapter.

Jesus enters Jerusalem to crowds shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David!”

People are excited to see Him.

But Jesus knows something they don’t fully understand yet: He hasn’t come simply to be celebrated.

He has come to change lives.

Matthew 21 gives us several pictures of what it looks like to respond to Jesus.

The crowds welcomed Him while the religious leaders challenged Him.

A fig tree looked healthy but produced no fruit.

Jesus tells a story about two sons, one who initially says no but eventually obeys, and another who says yes but doesn’t follow through.

There’s a common thread running through all of it:

Jesus isn’t looking for appearances. He’s looking for real fruit.

It’s easy to say the right things, sing the songs, and look like a Christian.

Jesus asks something deeper.

Are we actually following Him?

That’s a challenging question.

Because Christianity isn’t simply about saying yes to Jesus with our lips. It’s about saying yes with our lives.

Matthew 21 reminds us that Jesus doesn’t just want our attention.

He wants our hearts.

So here’s something to think about this Sunday:

What fruit is my life producing because Jesus is in it?

Jesus doesn’t call us to merely look like His followers.

He calls us to follow Him.
