I Am Who God Says I Am

Satan likes to call me by my sin, but Jesus calls me by my name. I am not who the Enemy says I am. I am who God says I am.

Child of God

For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”  The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. Romans 8:13-17 (ESV)

Forgiven

And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. Colossians 2:13-14 (ESV)

Redeemed, No Longer A Slave

I mean that the heir, as long as he is a child, is no different from a slave, though he is the owner of everything,  but he is under guardians and managers until the date set by his father. In the same way we also, when we were children, were enslaved to the elementary principles of the world. But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”  So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God. Galatians 4:1-7 (ESV)

Doubts, insecurities, and fears are Satan’s attempts to make us carry the chains Jesus has freed us from. Our chains are gone. We’ve been set free. Don’t pick them up just because the Devil tries to shove them in your hands. Don’t let Satan shackle that which Christ has unleashed.

Yes, the Devil likes to call you by your sin. But don’t believe the words of the Great Deceiver. Rather, trust the One who stood by you in the fire. Believe in the One who delivered you from the darkness. Look to the One who calls you by your name.

You are who God says you are.

Keep your faith in the Lord. His promises remain true. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

  1. I needed this reminder today. Even after being saved 40+ years I still forget that our LORD convicts to restore us to a right relationship with Him, whereas satan inflicts guilt to separate us from the Father. We need not feel guilty when we are forgiven. So grateful His blessings are new every morning.

Keep up the good work / writing, my friend!!
