Evening Prayer 12 | Mentoring

How did you spend the 1440 minutes God granted you today? Maybe you started the day investing in your relationship with the Lord by spending your early morning hours in prayer, talking to God, and meditating on Scripture. Perhaps, in addition to nurturing your walk with the Lord, you spent part of your time on yourself. And that’s totally okay. God has work for you to do. He has established His plans for you.

Of the 1440 minutes God gave you today, did you pour anytime into someone else through mentoring them?

In Scripture, we see Jesus choose 12 individuals to walk with Him during His earthly ministry. In addition to the other work He did, Jesus intentionally poured into the Twelve He chose to follow Him. As believers, we can impact and influence the lives of others by spending quality time with them, sharing our experiences and our knowledge, and praying together. As mentors, we intentionally choose to walk alongside someone else, helping them navigate the twists and turns of their life so that they can grow spiritually.

Let me encourage you to set aside time today to pour into another human life other than your spouse, children, or family. Walk alongside them, seeking to be a godly influence on their life.

Prayer: Lord, show me someone who I can impact in a positive way by investing part of my day into their life. Help me walk like Jesus, honoring and glorifying You, through teaching what You have taught me through time and experience. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Dig your heart here. I’m currently mentoring a youth leader across the border. I’m looking forward to seeing what God does after this season is complete.
