Chin up. Life’s hard knocks can be brutal. Don’t be discouraged. Rest your weary soul. Let God’s shield of hope and comfort raise you up from despair. You are better than this. You are created in His image. He has plans for you. You can flourish and prosper. Praise God, because He is steadfast and near to us in our darkest hour.
Psalm 3:3 (NIV)
But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.
In Psalm 3, David is lamenting his present situation. Things look bleak. Yet, he doesn’t give up. His faith informs him that God has not abandoned him. David understands that the Lord is his real protection and shield. He remains confident, grounded in his belief that the Lord delivers on His promises. We can take heart in times of trouble, following David’s example, and remain secure knowing that the Lord has our back.
