Last week, we briefly looked at the grace we have in God through Christ. Before our salvation, we were one way. Afterward, we are another. We are different relationally and positionally in connection to God. We are no longer apart from God, but rather a member of the body called to do the work He has set aside for us. We are also no longer at odds with God, or warring with God, because Christ has brokered peace between us and God, through His shed blood which atoned for our sins.
We are also no longer alone in the world, but part of the family of God. It is through that united fellowship that God does some of His greatest work, both in the lives of believers, and also, in the communities that those believers live, work, play, and minister in.
In Christ, we are united with God and united with fellow believers. In Christ, we experience peace because He is our peace.
Ephesians 2:11-16 (ESV)
11 Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called “the uncircumcision” by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands—12 remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14 For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility15 by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace,16 and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility.

2. What does Christ’s peace mean to you?
3. How does your relationship with God influence your relationship to other believers?
4. How does your relationship with God impact your relationship with your community?
5. Have you experienced God’s peace?
Prayer:
Lord, we thank You for Jesus, Your precious son, through whom we have peace. Help us live our lives worthy of the calling You have placed on our lives. For the praise of Your glory. Amen.
May the Lord shine His favor on you and those you love.
