There are seasons I can’t seem to pray hard or fast enough. Before I finish praying for one person’s needs another friend or family member shares their request with me via a text, phone call, or email. That ever happen to you?

This is definitely a season demanding tons of prayer. The Apostle Paul taught us to rejoice always, to be thankful, and to stay connected to God by praying continuously.

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

As a chaplain and ministry leader, I enjoy the privilege of praying with and for other people. It’s an opportunity that presents itself numerous times throughout the day. The pandemic certainly has contributed to a spike in prayer requests.

I love to listen to people pray because it gives me a glimpse of their connection with God. You can learn a lot listening to someone pray.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of sitting in a big group and praying out loud alongside others in the group. The rumble of prayer rising up from the lips of God’s beloved is a powerful experience.

Prayer is truly a wonderful gift from God. It is one of the many spiritual blessings He has showered upon us.

So today, remember to keep in touch with the Lord in prayer, keeping a thankful heart, and rejoicing not matter what the day brings. God is good.

Reflection Questions:

  1. Have your prayer needs increased substantially since the COVID crisis began?
  2. Do you find yourself praying more for our country during this election year?
  3. Are you praying about the societal unrest?
  4. What’s been the biggest change in your prayer life in 2020?

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for blessing us with the gift of prayer. It is great to be able to connect with You and share our needs with You. Thanks for being a good listener, Thank You for being an exceptional provider, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

May the Lord shower You with His grace and mercy.

Blessings,

This is a timely reminder brother, thank you. Due to life and often health issues I fall behind in my reading and writing schedule. This results in me trying to catch up when life is better which has a sneaky habit of stealing time from devotions. I find myself in a constant battle to balance my life, especially in reference to prayer time. This is strange when I remember times when God has blessed me in a big way during prayer.
Thank you and God bless you brother.
