Sunday Morning Prayer | Pursuing Excellence

I’ve heard it said that good is the enemy of great. Pursuing excellence is a way that believers reveal the character of God to others. God delights in excellence. Our Lord is not mediocre. He is great, majestic, and beyond whatever we could ever imagine. God is not slack in the work He does or lax in keeping His word.

It seems to me, we shouldn’t be either.

Picking up our cross daily isn’t something we can do with half-hearted effort. A life of following Jesus demands something far greater from us than getting by on okay. We must pursue excellence.

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.

Colossians 3:23 (NLT)

My prayer for you today is that whatever you do, you execute it with excellence for excellence is a generous reflection of what the Lord has done and continues to do in your life.

May your Lord’s Day be a blessing!

Humbly,

The Devotional Guy™

  6. I often remind myself of a saying I found inside a Dove chocolate wrapper: don’t quit till you’re proud. Thank you for grounding the pursuit of excellence in scripture and a Christian perspective!
