Friends, the other day I published my 1,500th post on The Devotional Guy™!!!
I published my first post on The Devotional Guy™ back in 2013 after my previous blog, Joshua’s Hope crashed and burned.
My 1,000 post was published on October 11,2022, not quite three years ago.
It’s taken me twelve years to write and publish 1,500 posts. Twelve years.
That’s 1,500 times I’ve hit “publish.”
1,500 times I’ve shown up to write.
1,500 moments I’ve offered a piece of myself to the world. Sometimes raw, sometimes refined, always real.
The Road to 3,000
The other day, upon learning I’d published my 1,500th post, fellow blogger and Christian devotional writer, Loring Schultz, wrote “Congrats on 1,500. Here’s to 3,000.”
Loring blogs faithfully at his blog Word for the Soul. I really encourage you to go checkout his blog, especially if you like trustworthy Christian content.
To publish 1,500 more posts to reach 3,000 feels a little like Faith Kipyegon’s attempt to become the first woman to run a mile in under 4 minutes. If I publish one post per day, it would take 1,500 days or about 5 years to break 3,000 (2030 AD).
1,500 isn’t the end. It’s the halfway point.
Quality vs. Quantity
While I love stats and achieving personal milestones, my commitment is and remains creating quality content. I never want to publish just for the sake of posting content. To me, that wouldn’t be God-honoring or good stewardship.

What started as a small space for sharing devotions and reflections has grown into a living archive of my thoughts, faith, questions, art, and the human experience. My blog has evolved, just as I have. What once was intended strictly as a devotional now reaches deeper into the layers of creativity, ministry, vulnerability, and advocacy. I’m grateful for every word, every comment, every reader, and every subscriber who has walked with me on this journey.
Looking Back
Not every post was easy.
Some came in moments of inspiration while others were forged in seasons of hardship. There have been late nights and early mornings of wrestling with posts. There are posts here written from grief, from gratitude, from joy, and from grappling with God, life, and purpose.
Through it all, there has been a call to keep writing and a strong desire to keep showing up. After all, this blog is as much a mission of presence as it is a writing journey.

Friend, if you’re reading this, then you’re part of the next chapter. The next 1,500 posts will dive deeper into creativity, calling, and community. I want to write things that matter. I want to share words that give hope, stir hearts, and shine light into dark places.
There’s still so much more to say. So much more to uncover. And hopefully, more people to walk with along the way.

Thank You
Whether you’ve been here from the beginning or just discovered my blog, I’m thankful. Every read, every share, every bit of feedback matters. You matter.
Here’s to the next 1,500.
Until my next post…
Be salty, stay lit.

Thank you, David 🙏 Yes, I agree, 1500 does seem like a big number. It took a long time just to get to 1000. Another 1500 could take 5-10 years. That sounds crazy when I think about it. 😂 I hope you and Nancy had a fun weekend. Blessings.
