Saturday in the Word | Receiving Scripture

There are a lot of people who read the Bible. Reading is not the same as receiving. Scripture was never meant to simply give us information.

God’s Word is meant to transform us.

The Word of God confronts us, challenges us, and comforts us.

The Bible calls us to go deeper than just surface reading. We are called to apply it.

James writes:

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

James 1.22 ESV

The goal of Scripture is not merely for us to know more, but to become different because of taking it in. It nourishes our soul as we feast on it.

When you read God’s Word, ask what is the Lord showing me and how is He calling me to respond?

The Bible is the living Word through which God shapes His people.

So I encourage you to open your Bible and listen. Receive it. Respond to it.

Be faithful to the Word and the Word will prove faithful to you.
