In response to yesterday’s post, fellow blogger Dana, who blogs faithfully at Regular Girl Devos, shared that she tries to avoid people’s minutia and encouraged me to follow God’s leading in my life. I loved her encouraging reminder to keep the MAIN ONE the MAIN ONE.
I’ve learned that one of the hardest things about following God is learning what not to carry.
We live in a world filled with opinions, expectations, comparisons, and endless distractions. It is easy to become consumed by what other people are doing, what they think, what they expect, and the paths God has placed them on.
But Jesus gave Peter a powerful reminder:
Jesus said to him, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!”

I find those words are both freeing and challenging.
God has called each of us to a unique journey. Your assignment is not to manage everyone else’s story. Your calling is not found in comparison. Your peace will not come from keeping up with someone else’s pace.
All of us are called to love people, serve people, and walk alongside people. However, we are not called to carry what belongs to God or what God called someone else to carry.
Sometimes faithfulness looks like saying, “Lord, show me what is mine to do today.”
Not everything needs your attention.
Not every opinion needs your response.
Not every problem needs you to fix it.
The voice of God is not found in the noise enveloping us, but in the quiet invitation to follow Him.
So my friend, stay close to Jesus and trust His direction.Walk the path He has placed before you, not the one He placed in front of someone else.
The goal is not to keep up with everyone else, but to faithfully follow Jesus.

Until my next post…
Be salty, stay lit.

Thank you, David! I love how you put that. Yes, each of us are uniquely created in God’s image, called to the work He has planned for us. As Paul says, we are all parts of one body, each with different gifts. Blessings!

Amen, brother. Amen!
We have the same master and overall mission, but varying methods and timing.
