Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of a new Monday and the fresh mercies that greet us with the sunrise. We give You all honor, glory, and praise!
As we begin this week, please clothe us with humility. Keep us from believing we are more important than we are, yet remind us that because we belong to Christ, we are deeply loved and wonderfully useful. Teach us to listen before we speak, to serve before we seek recognition, and to trust Your wisdom above our own.
The summer heat is building up and so are the storms. They remind us that creation groans and that life can be demanding. Give strength to those who work outdoors, protection to the vulnerable, refreshment to the weary, and grateful hearts for every cool breeze and every cup of cold water. Keep us out of harm’s way and in Your will. May the warmth of Your presence be greater than the heat around us.
We also thank You for the global spectacle of the World Cup that serves as a reminder that people from every nation, tribe, language, and culture can gather around something that stirs hope, passion, and joy. And we can do so with respect for our differences. While competition has its place, remind us that Your Kingdom is building something even greater: one redeemed people united in Christ. May we celebrate what brings people together while never forgetting the One who came to reconcile the world to Himself.
Lord, for many, this week is filled with anticipation. Some of us are waiting for new opportunities, conversations, answers to prayer, or doors yet to open. The start of school is coming fast around the corner. New jobs are beginning soon for many people. Help us to wait with expectancy instead of anxiety, knowing that You are already present in the future we cannot yet see.
Give us diligence to tie up loose ends. Help us finish what needs finishing, make the phone call we’ve been putting off, send the email, finish the project, extend forgiveness, complete the task, and prepare well for what lies ahead. May faithfulness in the small things prepare us for the greater things You have planned.
And above all, may our greatest ambition today be to glorify You. Let our words be gracious, our work be excellent, our hearts be humble, and our witness point others to Jesus.
We commit this Monday and this entire week to You.
In the name of Jesus, our mighty Savior and glorious King,
Amen.

Until my next post…
Be salty, stay lit.
