Sober Moments | Grace, Sobriety, and Love

Yesterday, Terri and I celebrated 18 years of marriage.

In no small part, that milestone is possible because of God’s grace and the gift of sobriety.

I’ve been clean and sober since August 12, 1995. When Terri and I first met in February 2000, I was working on about four and a half years of sobriety.

I’m grateful God gave me another chance at life. Sobriety gave me the opportunity to rebuild my life, and God’s grace has carried me through the years. Along the way, He brought Terri into my life, too.

I make a conscious effort to keep it simple, because the simpler I make it, the happier I become.

Friend, I don’t take any part of my life for granted.

Today’s sober moment is a reminder that recovery isn’t just about what we leave behind. It’s also about the life we get to live, the people we get to love, and the blessings we get to experience along the way.

One day at a time. One blessing at a time. All by the grace of God.

If you’re in recovery, keep going. You never know what God has in store for you on the other side of another sober day.

Until my next post…

Be salty, stay lit.
