New Music Review: Your Mercy/Paul Baloche

Capturing your ear from the very first notes, Paul Baloche’s latest musical offering, Your Mercy, is a magnificent labor of love. Reportedly recorded live in a Brooklyn recording studio over multiple nights, this new project features 12 songs that Baloche wrote with the help of several fellow Christian artists including Matt Redman, Meredith Andrews, All Sons & Daughters, Aaron Shust and Andi Rozier of the Vertical Church Band.

The track list:

  1. Psalm 92 (It Is Good)
  2. Once For All
  3. Found In You
  4. I Will Worship You
  5. Your Mercy
  6. Songs Of The People
  7. We Come To You Jesus
  8. God Evermore
  9. Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus (We Turn)
  10. To The Cross I Come [featuring Jennifer Holm & All Sons & Daughters]
  11. More Than I Deserve
  12. Peace On Earth [featuring Madison Cunningham]

The Dove-award winning songwriter and seasoned worship leader and his wife recently relocated to New York City from their longtime home in Texas. Baloche no doubt reflects the fresh sounds he has discovered in his new community. The album features a return to a more basic, simpler sound begging listeners to sing along.

My early favorites include the catchy opening track (Psalm 92), “Found In You”, the thoughtful title track “Your Mercy”, “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus (We Turn)”, and the hauntingly beautiful “To The Cross I Come” featuring Jennifer Holm & All Sons & Daughters.

With Your Mercy, Paul Baloche delivers a rich offering that will undoubtedly yield songs that congregations will sing in unison all over the globe. It is a beautifully produced album featuring well-written, fresh music from one of contemporary worship’s most steadfast songsmiths.
