34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
John 13:34-35 (NIV)
Heavenly Father, hallowed be Your name, Your will Be done on earth as it is heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, our sins, and our trespasses. Forgive us for our hate. You commanded us to love one another. This command stands true regardless of who we are, where we‘re from, what we look like, or what we believe. You, O Lord, created us in Your image. Yet, we don’t always behave like God‘s children but rather like sons of the devil. Forgive us. Forgive us for being silent when we should—no when we MUST speak up. Help us, Almighty God, to see beyond the old age lies that judge a man by the color of his skin. Help us to DO justice and to LOVE mercy and to WALK humbly, pointing people to Jesus, rather than pushing them away. Father God, forgive us where we fall short. Help us remain steadfast and determined to bring about the change that needs to come. Let no other man, woman, or child die unjustly at the hands of hate. Lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER us from evil. Yours is the KINGDOM, the POWER, and the GLORY. Forever. In the name of Jesus! Amen.
