Nehemiah 9:31 (NIV)
But in your great mercy you did not put an end to them or abandon them, for you are a gracious and merciful God.
In the Old Testament, we see the Israelites repeatedly disobey and rebel against God, yet, each time they repent, God is faithful in delivering them from the perils of their waywardness.
In chapter 9 of Nehemiah, we get a front row seat to one of those glorious occasions celebrating God’s compassion to His people. In His abundant mercy, God even sends the prophets to Israel to help them focus and return to Him.
Throughout His-story, the Lord goes above and beyond to provide what is needed in order to redeem His people. This is true for us as believers today. In His magnificent mercy, God went above and beyond in offering His son, Jesus Christ, as atonement for our sins. So today, we can and should praise God for His mercifulness.
