The COVID-19 Devotionals | Weekend Edition #4

Thank the Lord that the weekend has arrived! How has COVID-19 impacted your appreciation of the weekend? Does it feel like a seamless transition from one day to the next? My calendar is all screwed up. In talking to different guys and a number of friends, I’ve heard that many folks are struggling to know what day it is because of the disruption of their routines. By the time we get settled into this “new normal,” it will be time to change things up again. And to think that at the beginning of 2020 I chose routine as my word for the year. WOW. If I knew then what I know now. LOL.

Terri and I are hoping to enjoy time outdoors, walking the neighborhood, and strolling over to the nearby park. We’ve talked about breaking out our bikes, but it’s been awhile since either of us have ridden, so we’ll see how that plays out.

Season 6 of the Amazon series “Bosch” comes out Friday. We’re both looking forward to binging on that over the weekend.  Bosch is a detective series featuring Harry Bosch, a fictional character created by American author Michael Connelly. The TV series is based on the novels Connelly began writing in the 1990s (does that sound like a long time ago or what???). I think there are about 20+ novels in the series that has spawned other interesting characters lawyer Mickey Haller and Renee’ Ballard. Titus Welliver plays the lead role in the Amazon TV series. It’s like he was born to be Bosch.

Another week amid the COVID 19 pandemic has gone by and by God’s grace, I’ve been able to keep posting The COVID-19 Devotionals series, chronicling our collective experience of sheltering in place and offering a daily devotional in hopes of encouraging you during this crazy time. I believe that it is imperative for us not to allow social distancing to lead to social isolation. Thankfully, the gift of technology helps us stay connected in ways we didn’t dream of in days gone by. And, it’s my hope that this blog helps you stay checked in rather than checked out.

How are you planning to spend time this weekend?

I believe that in order to experience life the way God intended, you and I must receive God’s gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Through Jesus Christ, God has made this gift available to all who ask.

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Romans 10:13

Will you personally receive the gift of eternal life so that you can experience the total forgiveness from your sins that come through believing in the atoning death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ?

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast.”

Ephesians 2:8-9

How will I spend this weekend?! Ridin’, baby! Plus some lawn work and maybe some crown molding in our bedroom. Caulked the kitchen counter yesterday… and I have some work to do in the bike part storage shed. It’s going to be a busy week.

  2. Somehow I suspected that you might be spending time on your bike. Good for you. I’ve got a couple of projects on my list for next week too. But hopefully I’ll do some cooking this weekend. Thanks for reading. Have a blast on your bike this weekend!
